Clarence Bruner-Smith noted, "This wall was part of the obstacle course set up during World War II. High School boys were required to surmount it. They were also taught to climb 20 foot ropes and to run set distances around the board track then in use around what was called the "dust bowl."

The Dust Bowl- Trinity boys were using this space, formerly St. Agnes Chapel, as a new athletic field by 1945.

A Rifle Team in the rifle range located in the basement of the 139 building.  The Trinity Rifle Club competed interscholastically and were members of the National Rifle Association.  The boys received "splendid instruction in the proper handling of guns," until the range was closed by the Fire Department for not having adequate exits.
